The Wonderful Goose
There lived a farmer in a village. He had a wonderful goose. It used to lay a gold egg every day. The farmer was very greedy. As the goose laid a gold egg a day, it would take time for him to be rich. He thought that the belly of the goose was full of eggs. If he cut the belly of it open, he would get all the eggs at a time. In that way, he would be solvent overnight. So, he told his wife about his plan but his wife, a greedless person, forbade him to do so. But he didn’t pay any heed to her advice. Finally, he cut the stomach of the goose with a sharp knife. But alas! There was no egg. The farmer felt sorry for his foolish act. Moral: “Grasp all, lose all.”
