Robert Bruce was the King of Scotland. He fought against King Edward I of England for the independence of his country. But he lost the battle again and again. Being defeated for six times, he lost all hopes and fled away to save his life. Once, he was lying in a cave in a forest. There he saw a spider trying to reach the top of the steep wall of the cave. It fell down repeatedly, but it did not give up its attempts. At its seventh attempt, it succeeded in reaching the top. The incident inspired Bruce to gather his soldiers together. He fought against the English army and got the independence of Scotland. The story teaches us, “Failure is the pillar of success.”
